Self Imposed Exile

The design element that dominated this project wasn’t the furniture, but rather the overall temperature of the waiting room. The opposing cool temperature in the area immediately behind the waiting room only reinforces the warm orange and brown tones of the wood, ceiling and walls. The room itself is very symmetrical and open in its floor plan. We were confident that what the room needed was artwork that supported and complemented with the warm temperatures and values, while creating a positive visual tension by virtue of its comparatively busy composition.

The wood walls in the room strongly suggest an overall organic feel. The gold and silver in the painting, while visually similar in hue, appear more metallic and as such, suggested something more inorganic. The result is a visually pleasing play of opposing themes and forces that complete the waiting room.
